Guide to the Best Bars and Date Night Drinking Spots in Byron Bay

Lazy days spent sun-soaking and exploring, mean that by golden hour you’ve earned a good drop! If you’re heading out for date night drinks or tipples with friends, check out this guide to Byron’s best bars and watering holes, filled with our favourite finds.

THE MEZ CLUB

The Mez Club cocktail

Just a five minute stroll from The Lord Byron, The Mez Club will have you transported across Europe, Morocco and the Middle East as you set yourself inside. While they also serve up shareable mezze-style dishes, it’s their signature cocktails that are calling you. With tipples such as the Mango Kombucha Margarita and the Pass Paloma, you can sure bet there’s going to be a cool drink (or two!) with your name on it.

Address: 4/85-87 Jonson St, Byron Bay

LOFT

Loft cocktail byron

A short wander from the sand and surf of Byron’s Main Beach, is where you’ll find Loft. Along with their good selection of local + international wines and long list of spirits, is the classic-meets-innovative cocktail menu. Let the Lychee Chilli Coconut Martini tickle your tastebuds or perhaps explore the Purple Haze Martini instead. Whichever you choose, you’re in for a good night.

Address: 4 Jonson St, Byron Bay

THE BOLT HOLE

The Bolt Hole Byron

Self-described as purveyors of good times and tasty cocktails, it’s hard not to feel attracted to this character-infused refuge. The gin, whiskey, scotch and spirits menu is extensive to say the least, and you can ask the bartender for their best tonic pairing recommendation to take you G&T to that next level. Yes, these guys know their stuff. With so many quality spirits on offer, of course you can expect a great cocktail list too (Kaffir Lime Beefeater Gin with apricot brandy, watermelon and lime, anyone?!).

Address: 9 Fletcher St, Byron Bay

SUPERNATURAL CELLARS

Supernatural Wine Cellars Byron

This relatively new kid on the block is one for the wine lovers. Supernatural is the result of a biodynamic winemaker Pete Windrim, and restaurateur Andy Love, coming together to create a slice of Paris by the Bay. Discover an offering of 50 natural wines to whet your whistle, with a quality range of salty seaside bites to accompany the journey.

Address: 9 Bay Ln, Byron Bay

BALCONY BAR & OYSTER CO.

Balcony Bar cocktail

Your Hamptons-style hideaway, Balcony Bar is the aptly named building that is perched above Byron’s bustling Johnson St. The wine list provides a very decent offering of most varietals (special occasion? Why not go the Charles Heidsieck!), or be easily tempted by a cocktail menu that oozes with ‘pick me’ energy.
