Where To Eat, Drink and Play in Byron Bay in 2022

If… you’re a gin enthusiast

Consider these two items a MUST for your Byron 2022 agenda! Cape Byron’s Rainforest & Distillery Tour is an immersive journey that takes you through their subtropical rainforest, feeling the native botanicals, and enjoying a full-guided tasting. Go behind the scenes of Husk’s working distillery while sipping Husk Rum and Ink Gin, book a spot under the umbrella in their sprawling grounds, or enjoy the intimate ‘Ultimate Husk Experience’. Over two and a half hours, you’ll be taken on a behind the scenes tour, sip on Husk cocktails, and indulge in a fabulous 3 course meal.

If… you’re an entertainment and culture fiend

Brunswick Picture House is re-opening its doors after mammoth renovations throughout much of 2021. Rest assured, this cultural institution has retained its unparalleled charm and what’s more, they have an incredible ‘Grand Opening’ lineup to kickstart the summer season. With shows from the likes of Kitty Flanagan, Sam Simmons, Wil Anderson, Dave Thorton and more, it’s no doubt there will be many must-see shows throughout 2022. From comedy to cabaret to circus, this is your spot for entertainment!

If…you need some pampering

Prioritise me-time and massages in 2022! Enter a state of deep bliss at Kiva Spa in Mullumbimby. You can de-stress in their Bathhouse – a magical oasis featuring hot hydrotherapy spa pools, a wood-fired sauna, plunge pool, steam room (hammam), lush gardens and relaxation areas. Afterwards, slip into one of their massages. You’ll leave feeling utterly relaxed and rejuvenated.

If… dining out is high on your agenda

Although our team have their long-held favourite local dining spots, the past 12 months have brought a range of new restaurant openings to Byron and the surrounding area, which are a must-add to any foodie’s list! We suggest sussing out the below:

If… creativity is calling

Book yourself into a workshop with Poppy and Fern or a two-hour Mini Masterclass at Pikt Flowers. Set in their rustic floral studio on a fourth generation family farm just outside of Byron, this workshop will teach you all the tips and tricks when it comes to arranging, techniques, flower care, and more. By the end, you’ll walk away with a take home piece, nibbles and a bloomin’ lot of knowledge. Prefer getting muddy? The Clay Barn and Mud both offer sensational clay and pottery classes for both total newbies and those with experience.

If… you want to cook up a storm

Dive into Open Table’s Cooking School. Award-winning chef Ronit Robbaz will lead you through a sensational culinary journey of the senses, taking inspiration from cuisines the world over. You’ll create an authentic (and incredibly delicious) banquet that caters for all food-lovers, from vegetarian to flexitarian and what lays between!

If… sunny days with a picnic sound perfect

Pick up a Three Blue Ducks picnic hamper and wander through The Farm before finding your ideal picnic spot… somewhere past the pigs in their mud bath, the 700 Bond Brown chickens, the macadamia orchard, and the produce plants. Yes, this farm is incredible! Inside your picnic hamper is house made goods, locally sourced cheeses, charcuterie, parfait, dips, fruit, sweets, dried fruits, nuts, berries, and bread from The Bread Social. Harvest Deli also offer a range of take-home picnic hampers, including the Sunrise Hamper and Lavish Lunch Hamper – perfect options if you’d prefer picnicking by the beach.

If… you want to shop the best of Byron

Habitat Lifestyle Hub’s ‘See You Sunday’ sessions are calling. Within this shopping village, you’ll have access to all of the Hub’s flagships stores, independent boutiques and fashion labels, as well as live buskers, kids activities, and more. For when you’re feeling peckish, duck into the much-loved Vagabond (for plant-based eats and delicious smoothies) or local-fave Barrio (for tapas fare and South American-style eats). The Habitat precinct also has a new addition coming very soon in 2022, Easy Street! Easy Street will be home to even more businesses, local makers, international lifestyle brands and hole-in-the-wall coffee spots… keep your eyes peeled!

If… you’re looking for a fun night out

Stay tuned to The Balcony. Perched above Byron’s main streets to a backdrop reminiscent of a seaside beach shack, The Balcony rolls out a regular lineup of fun dining experiences. From Live Acoustic Music Thursdays to Drag & Dine evenings, alongside their daily specials, there’s always something happening.
